Music Across Borders: Artists from the Seven Banned Nations

Donald Trump's Executive Order (which is currently under a restraining order) banning travel from Sudan, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Iraq, Iran, and Libya have forced us to ask difficult questions about who we are as a nation. Do we want to remain a welcoming country, a nation of immigrants? If so, we must continue to celebrate the brave people from around the world who have left their homes to seek a new one here.

While gentrification is changing the community, Cabrini Immigrant Services continues to work with the Latino, Chinese, African, Middle Eastern, and other communities that have made the Lower East Side their home.

New Fee Waiver Available for Naturalization!

The office of the Federal Register has announced that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will be changing the fees for immigration and naturalization benefit requests, which are processed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

The naturalization (Form N-400) fee will have three levels.

Immigrant Roots: Italo Medelius

My name is Italo Medelius and I’m from Lima, Peru, originally. I come from a family of Italian descent, my grandfather was born in Italy, and he was the one that named me. My mom’s side of the family is Italian, and my grandfather married a native Peruvian woman, my grandmother. My father’s side is German, so that’s where the Medelius comes from.

Meet the Second Cohort of New American Youth Leadership Corps!

Last week 22 New York City high school students from across the five boroughs graduated from the second cohort of the New American Youth Leadership Corps (NAYLC), an initiative run by the New York Immigration Coalition and supported with funding from Citi Community Development.
