OVERVIEW
The NYIC is pleased to announce a Request for Proposals (RFP) to support nonprofit organizations in conducting non-partisan civic engagement activities in New York State from the summer up to the 2017 local elections. The activities will include but not be limited to canvassing, base-building, organizing, outreach and follow-up, voter registration, voter education, distributing voter rights information, and non-partisan get-out-the-vote work. All activities must be for charitable purposes and no partisan political activity can be supported with the grant money.
In addition to funding, the NYIC will provide grantees with:
- access to the Voter Activation Network
- large-scale voter mobilization activities and trainings
- campaign guidance
- best practices
- and general support
Organizations that are interested in submitting a proposal can apply for one of three grant tiers, each of which comes with its own set of deliverables.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Organizations that are applying for funding must:
- be a 2017 NYIC Member (or have recently submitted a 2017 Member renewal/application)
- be based in New York State
All Immigrants Vote! grant applicants will be primarily assessed on the following criteria:
- their experience in running non-partisan voter education and mobilization campaigns
- the quality and feasibility of their plan for carrying out the deliverables of the Immigrants Vote! Campaign
The following factors will also be considered when reviewing applications in an attempt to ensure that the cohort of grantees collectively supports diverse regions and communities within New York State, and has representation from organizations that are well-engaged in the NYIC’s work:
- geographic areas served
- immigrant communities served
- level of engagement in the NYIC’s work during the past 12 months
