OVERVIEW
The NYIC is pleased to announce a Request for Proposals (RFP) to support nonprofit organizations in providing financial literacy workshops to immigrant communities. Selected organizations will be awarded $10,000 and asked to train at least 150 immigrant community members using a new, culturally competent curriculum called Earn Your Future: Immigrant Financial LiteracyTM. The funding and curriculum for this work has been generously provided by Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP (PwC).
Organizations that are awarded funding will be expected to:
- attend an orientation on July 20 to learn about the grant requirements and the Earn Your FutureTM workshop modules on banking, consumer fraud, credit, home and car buying, income and careers, insurance, paying for college, saving and investing, and taxes
- attend periodic webinars to obtain supplemental training and network with other grantees
- facilitate Earn Your FutureTM modules for at least 150 immigrant community members by January 31, 2018
- administer pre and post surveys and course evaluations during each Earn Your FutureTM module facilitated, and share the results with the NYIC within 14 days after the module
- submit a 2-3 page narrative report to the NYIC on their experience facilitating Earn Your FutureTM modules to immigrant communities by February 15, 2018
SELECTION CRITERIA
Organizations that are applying for funding must:
- have 501(c)3 nonprofit status
- be based in New York State
All Earn Your FutureTM regrant applicants will be primarily assessed on the following criteria:
- the financial literacy needs of the immigrant communities that they support
- their experience supporting immigrant communities around financial literacy and with workshops/trainings
- the quality and feasibility of their plan for facilitating Earn Your FutureTM workshops for at least 150 immigrant community members
The following factors will also be considered when reviewing applications in an attempt to ensure that the cohort of grantees collectively supports diverse regions and communities within New York State, and has representation from organizations that are well-engaged in the NYIC’s work:
- geographic areas served
- immigrant communities served
- level of engagement in the NYIC’s work during the past 12 months
Organizations that are NYIC Members will be prioritized for selection.
