NYIC Demands Justice in Response to Alleged Abuse of Migrants in Buffalo

BUFFALO — Following reporting by the New York Times about a lawsuit detailing allegations of abuse against migrants by members of the National Guard and contractor DocGo, the New York Immigration Coalition today called for a thorough investigation of the allegations and action against those found to have abused migrants in their care.

Murad Awawdeh, Executive Director, New York Immigration Coalition:

"Immigrants have long looked to New York as a place of safety and hope, but these disturbing allegations fly in the face of what this state purports to stand for. If true, they represent an unacceptable breach of trust by those who have been given the essential duty of helping all people in crisis, regardless of where they come from. A thorough investigation of these allegations is essential and action must be taken against anyone who is found to have engaged in such reprehensible and illegal behavior."
