REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL: BRANDING SERVICES
The New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) is seeking a branding firm to create, test, and launch a new logo and brand identity that represents our mission, vision, and values and our role and work in our community. This Request for Proposal (RFP) represents the needs and desires of the NYIC and must be used as the basis for the bidder’s preparation of its proposal. Responses must be submitted electronically no later than Aug. 7, 2026, to spatel@nyic.org.
Organizational Summary and Background
The New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) is an umbrella policy & advocacy organization that represents over 200 immigrant and refugee rights groups throughout New York.
The NYIC serves one of the largest and most diverse newcomer populations in the United States. The multi-racial and multi-sector NYIC membership base includes grassroots and nonprofit community organizations, religious and academic institutions, labor unions, as well as legal and socioeconomic justice organizations. The NYIC not only establishes a forum for immigrant groups to voice their concerns, but also provides a platform for collective action to drive positive social change.
Since its founding in 1987, the NYIC has evolved into a powerful voice of advocacy by spearheading innovative policies, promoting and protecting the rights of immigrant communities, improving newcomer access to services, developing leadership and capacity, expanding civic participation, and mobilizing member groups to respond to the fluctuating needs of immigrant communities.
II. Project Purpose and Description: Overseeing Brand Refresh, with an expanded color palette and updated identity system, in addition to a 40th Anniversary brand.
III. Project Scope
The scope of this project includes two components: providing the New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) with a detailed brand refresh plan following a brand review and solving for problems that have arisen with the current brand. The following criteria must be met to achieve each phase and an overall successful project:
The vendor will meet with the Communications lead and relevant staff, reviewing the current brand materials, templates, website, social media design, and soliciting feedback on the current identity. The vendor will present a design brief with suggested outputs for a brand refresh for the 40th anniversary, including an expanded color palette. The NYIC’s VP of Communications and Strategy will guide the internal decision-making process, and will work with the vendor to completion of the project plan, which includes creating an:
Identity system:
- Logo and its secondary lock-ups, if any (eps, pdf, png, svg)
- Expanded Color Palette
- Typography Communication assets Includes:
- Business card template (INDD file with color, type styles, grids);
- Digital letterhead template (1pg, Word);
- Additional typography or guidance to be used for special events.
- 2 PPT and Google Slides template (includes up to 6 page types);
- Policy report design (assumes 16 pgs + cover); includes up to 6 icons and up to 3 diagrams;
Style guide: documentation of project decisions about the NYIC identity components and usage guidelines for the logo, color palette(s), typography, custom iconography (if needed), and template standards (PDF, assumes up to 10 pages).
Website re-skin: The website will be reskinned to update colors, typography, and identity elements on the site’s existing architecture. Work includes design comps for up to 10 page types and their responsive sizes (up to 3), detailed production specs, up to two rounds of quality assurance (QA), and coordination with NYIC’s preferred web developer.
Scope of Work
Strategy & identity system Conduct kick-off and strategy sessions (1 meeting) with key stakeholders within NYIC to uncover and define positioning, competitive environment, review current brand challenges, target audience profile and any key messages and brand attributes that may drive visual and editorial concepts.
Phase I: Understanding the Current Organizational Brand
The vendor will conduct an inventory assessment to include discussion with relevant staff and any other key stakeholders to better understand the current brand logo and current challenges.
Phase II: Branding and Launch Plan
The vendor will conduct the following activities for Phase II:
- Provide a brand review plan with key datelines outlined.
- Create the brand refresh as per the identity system outlined in Project Scope.
- Create a dissemination plan to introduce the new brand or the brand refresh to the organization to staff and board.
IV. Request for Proposal Guidelines and Timeline
Interested Vendors/Consultants must submit a proposal by August 7th that includes:
- Project description illustrating an understanding of challenges presented in this project by providing experience on other projects, with samples or links to completed identity systems and an explanation of how they solved the challenge
- Proposed plan for this project
- Timeframe, deliverables, and resources required
- Itemized budget to include explanation of all fees and costs
- Bios of staff assigned and working on the project
- Description of previous related experience (preferably in similar field), including research and planning.
- Project must be completed in its entirety by December 1, 2026
If the organization submitting a proposal must outsource or contract any work to meet the requirements contained herein, this must be clearly stated in the proposal and all associated costs must be included in the proposal budget. Additionally, any proposal which calls for outsourcing or contracting work must include a name and description of the organizations being contracted.
Contract terms and conditions will be negotiated upon selection of the winning bidder for this RFP. All contractual terms and conditions may be subject to review by the NYIC.

All proposals in response to this RFP are due Friday, August 7, 2026 to Su Patel, VP of Communications, spatel@nyic.org. We will be responding to applicants on a rolling basis.
