2026 Primary Election Information

The 2026 Primary Election is on Tuesday, June 23rd. New York has a “close primary” system, meaning only voters registered to a party holding an election (like the Democratic and Republican parties) can vote.

Voter Registration

Check your voter registration:

• New York City residents
• All other areas of the state

Register or update your registration online:

• New York City residents
• All other areas of the state

You can also complete a voter registration form found here and return it in person or by mail. To vote in the June primary, your registration must be received by June 13th.

Vote Early

You can vote early from Saturday, June 13th - Sunday, June 21st. Early Voting hours of operation are provided by local County Boards of Elections.

In New York City, early voting locations are assigned and you can find your assigned early voting here. In all other areas of the state, you can find early voting locations in your county here.

Vote on Election Day

Election Day is Tuesday, June 13. Polls are open from 6 am - 9 pm.

Deadline to register to vote
Deadline to request a mail-in ballot online or via mail, email, or fax

Sunday, June 21
Last day of early voting

Monday, June 22
Deadline to request a mail-in ballot in-person at your local Board of Elections

Election Day
Deadline to mail or drop-off your mail-in ballot
