Location: The role is based in NYC with occasional travel in NYS. This position is hybrid with a requirement to work 4 days a week from the office and 1 day remote.
Salary: $3,978.37 per pay period

The New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) is an umbrella policy and advocacy organization for nearly 200 groups in New York State. Position Overview

The Director of Membership will be responsible for managing the administration of the NYIC’s nonprofit Membership, including actively recruiting new organizations to the NYIC’s Membership, managing processes around reviewing and approving new Member applications, administering processes around Membership renewals, maintaining data on Member organizations and their contacts on Salesforce, helping to manage relationships with Members, providing customer service, and actively working to connect Members to other parts of the NYIC’s programming.

The Director of Membership will report to the Vice President of Programs & Membership, and will interact with all teams and departments within the NYIC. The position will also support various capacity projects directed at Members which depending on organizational needs might include serving as a program officer for some of the NYIC’s regrants - and in particular, the Welcoming NY: Resettlement Campaign Regrant - and supporting the planning and execution of events like the annual Member Congress conference.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Member Support & Engagement
    • Provide responsive and high-quality customer service to all Member organizations, including technical assistance, general inquiries, and referrals to appropriate NYIC staff or teams.
    • Facilitate orientations for new Members and manage the setup of Member Portal accounts.
    • Develop local advocacy initiatives in key regions across the state in collaboration with the Policy team.
    • Actively learn about Member organizations’ interests and needs, and connect them with relevant NYIC programs, initiatives, and staff.
    • Support internal NYIC teams in identifying and engaging Members for collaborative projects and partnerships.
  2. Membership Growth & Retention
    • Develop outreach materials and talking points to promote NYIC Membership among nonprofit organizations.
    • Support external-facing staff in cultivating relationships and pitching Membership to prospective partners.
    • Recruit new Member organizations, with an emphasis on those based outside New York City and those serving underrepresented immigrant communities.
    • Manage Member renewals, including developing and implementing follow-up strategies for lapsed Members.
  3. Data Management & Tracking
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of Member organizations and contacts in Salesforce.
    • Support the tracking and analysis of Member engagement across NYIC programs and initiatives.
  4. Program & Regrant Management
    • Support the management of NYIC regrants—such as the state-funded Welcoming NY: Resettlement Campaign Regrant—which may include: Collecting and reviewing programmatic and financial reports, assembling invoices and processing regrant payments, managing relationships with regrantees, supporting the Development Department in preparing funder reports.
    • Supervise a manager serving as Program Officer for the Welcoming NY: Resettlement Campaign Regrant.
  5. Event Planning & Organizational Support
    • Serve on the planning committee for the annual Member Congress conference and contribute to planning and event execution.
    • Provide occasional support to other projects within the Programs & Membership Department or across the NYIC as needed.
    • Occasionally carry or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector, including at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and a demonstrated commitment to immigrant services and social justice.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage tight deadlines, competing priorities, and adapt to a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (both verbal and written), and public speaking skills, with the ability to explain complex issues in clear, non-technical language.
  • Collaborative team player who takes initiative and is comfortable working independently as well as within a team.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Google Workspace, Salesforce, and Asana (or similar project management tools).
  • Familiarity with the New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC), its members, or issues affecting immigrants in New York.
  • Fluency in another language commonly spoken in New York State is a strong advantage.

Annual salary: $95,481* ($3,978.37 per pay period)
