NEW YORK, NY – Last week, Fort Hamilton Army Base officials arrested Pablo Villavicencio, a pizza delivery man, while he was delivering food to the base. Army officials later handed Villavicencio over to ICE.
Originally from Ecuador, Villavicencio is married to a US citizen and the father of two US-born daughters. He and his wife began to apply for his permanent residency last February.
In response, Steven Choi, Executive Director of the New York Immigration Coalition, said:
“It’s absolutely disgusting when the strongest military in the world punches down by going after pizza delivery men. Immigrant New Yorkers like Pablo Villavicencio provide for their families by working hard and making sacrifices, they shouldn’t be ripped from their communities and their crying children for pursuing the ever dimmer American dream.”
