New York, NY—Today, The Supreme Court of the U.S. (SCOTUS) affirmed the Trump administration’s ability, for now, to end a humanitarian program that allowed hundreds of thousands of people fleeing countries facing war and political turmoil to seek temporary residency and work authorization in the United States.

New York, NY—Today, the New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC), education advocates, allies, immigrant New Yorkers, and elected officials rallied and held a press conference on the steps of Tweed Courthouse to demand the immediate release of Dylan–a Bronx high school student asylum seeker from Venezuela who was arrested and detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after complying with the legal process and attending his regularly scheduled court hearing last week.
New York, NY—Today, it was reported that the Trump administration has directed United States embassies to temporarily halt the scheduling of interviews for new student visa applications as they prepare to include social media screenings for these individuals as part of the application requirement.
New York, NY— Earlier today, ICE agents in unmarked vehicles were present at a vehicle registration and inspection checkpoint conducted jointly by the Cohoes Police Department, Albany County Sheriff’s Department, and New York State Troopers in Cohoes, NY, resulting in up to two individuals being taken away by ICE.

New York, NY—Today, U.S. House Republicans narrowly passed President Trump’s reconciliation bill in a largely party line vote of 215-214, advancing his domestic agenda at the expense of working families. The legislation, which now heads to the Senate, will cut taxes for the wealthy—considered the biggest wealth transfer in U.S. history–while eliminating tax credits for working families and slashing critical programs like Medicaid, food assistance, education and clean energy.
New York, NY—Today, the Supreme Court decided it will allow the Trump administration to move forward with revoking Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for more than 350,000 Venezuelan immigrants, paving the way for the loss of work authorization and putting them at risk of deportation.

The justices also sent the case back to the federal appeals court, which they directed to examine claims by those who have been detained that they could not be legally deported under the Alien Enemies Act.
New York, NY—Today, Mayor Eric Adams announced the closure of the Asylum Application Help Center by the end of June 2025. The Asylum Application Help Center was launched in 2023, at the former American Red Cross offices, to assist immigrants who had recently arrived in New York City submit their asylum and work authorization applications.
New York, NY—Today, Dr. Badar Khan Suri was released on bail from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention by Virginia U.S. District Court Judge Patricia Tolliver Giles. Khan Suri, a postdoctoral fellow on a student visa at Georgetown University from India, was arrested by masked immigration agents outside his home in Rosslyn, Virginia on March 17. Khan Suri was never charged with a crime.
