Position Overview
This is a contract-funded position for a rapid-response initiative that the NYIC is undertaking to support vulnerable migrants and asylum-seekers throughout New York State. This position will be for a period of one year (August 2024-August 2025) with the potential to extend for one more year, for a total of two years. The continuation of this position beyond two years is contingent upon available funding.
The Manager of Membership & Capacity Building, Welcoming NY Program Officer, will be responsible for directly managing and supporting a portfolio of Welcoming New York: Resettlement Campaign regrantees, who are working to provide legal and/or Welcoming Navigator services to priority and target immigrant populations in New York State. Welcoming Navigator services broadly refers to diverse services/activities that connect immigrants to legal and/or social services.
The position will report to the Senior Manager of Membership & Capacity Building, and will work very closely with staff from the Policy & Programs and Operations teams.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Manage a portfolio of Welcoming New York: Resettlement Campaign regrantees and serve as their primary contact for the regrant;
- Review, manage and approve Production Reports from the assigned regrantees;
- Review and manage evidence submitted through Production Reports, and ensure that it validates the numbers being submitted in the reports;
- Hold recurring check-in meetings with assigned regrantees and provide them with general support and guidance, and collect information and collect/provide feedback;
- Connect assigned regrantees to other staff and resources as appropriate, in support of the regrantees’ work and performance;
- Share information on assigned regrantees with other staff and teams as appropriate in support of the overall Welcoming New York campaign;
- Ensure that assigned regrantees submit their required reports and financial vouchers;
- Support billing processes around assigned regrantees.
Qualifications
- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector
- Highly organized, strong interpersonal skills, and comfort with public speaking.
- Good team player, comfortable taking initiative, and able to adapt as necessary to changing circumstances.
- Passion for immigrant services and social justice.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple tasks.
- Ability to manage tight deadlines and competing priorities and strategize in a rapidly changing environment.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace and Asana
- Strong attention to detail is a must
- Strong communication verbal and written skills to translate complex problems using non-technical terms.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse populations.
- Interest in and/or knowledge of the NYIC, its members, or issues affecting immigrants in New York is an advantage.
- Ability to speak another language(s) spoken in New York State is an advantage.
- Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
Salary: $71,431**
The NYIC has a transparent and equitable salary structure. Starting salaries for each position are set in advance with no room for negotiation.
