Position Overview

The Membership and Capacity Building (MCB) Manager will support the management of the NYIC VISTA program, including but not limited to recruiting, training and monitoring/managing VISTAs and their supervisors/host sites; overseeing the recruitment, training, and management of NYIC Volunteers in support of the NYIC’s programmatic and operational work; and providing general support to new and existing MCB programs, initiatives, events and projects.

Responsibilities of the Membership and Capacity Building (MCB) Manager


NYIC VISTA

  • Manage the NYIC VISTA program;
  • Liaise with the Northeast Regional Office of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS);
  • Manage the RFP/selection process of NYIC VISTA host sites and work with the selected sites to develop work plans and deliverables for their VISTA positions;
  • Manage the renewal process of the NYIC VISTA sponsor renewal application;
  • Manage the NYIC VISTA recruitment process;
  • Hold monthly check-in meetings/calls with assigned NYIC VISTAs and supervisors/host sites to gain more information about their activities and experiences, and to provide support, guidance, reminders, updates, and interventions as necessary;
  • Hold quarterly Host Site Meetings with assigned NYIC VISTAs and their supervisors to formally review VISTA progress on performance measures, collect and provide feedback, and address any issues that need attention;
  • Monitor NYIC VISTAs and supervisors/host sites for any inappropriate activities/policy infractions and support the MCB team in addressing those issues;
  • Coordinate and support the facilitation of trainings, webinars, and service/networking activities for VISTAs and their supervisors;
  • Plan and execute a program year-end celebration event for NYIC VISTAs;
  • Manage the invoices for and the collection of quarterly NYIC VISTA Host Site fees;
  • Manage general VISTA sponsor administrative tasks including but not limited to bimonthly sponsor verifications;
  • Work with the Finance team to manage the payment of the VISTA program’s cost share;
  • Write AmeriCorps VISTA progress reports to CNCS.
  • Volunteer Management

  • Oversee the NYIC Volunteer program;
  • Supervise an AmeriCorps VISTA in recruiting, training, managing, evaluating and celebrating volunteers;
  • Directly manage volunteers in activities that VISTAs are not allowed to manage volunteers for;
  • Support the development of new and/or evolving initiatives around volunteers
  • Oversee volunteer tracking systems on Salesforce.

  • General

  • Provide general support to existing and future MCB capacity-building programs/projects.
  • Support MCB in continuing to develop relationships with Members and connect them to appropriate engagement activities and resources in the NYIC.
  • Supervise the AmeriCorps VISTA on the MCB team.
  • Qualifications

    An ideal candidate has:

  • 3 or more years of experience managing AmeriCorps projects and/or leadership development cohort programs
  • 3 or more years of experience developing and facilitating trainings and workshops
  • 3 or more years of experience managing volunteers
  • 3 or more years of experience with recruitment
  • Experience working on government grants and managing compliance for them
  • Experience with working actively with a large group of external organizations on a project
  • Experience serving as an AmeriCorps member or in a similar paraprofessional position
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong written, verbal and general interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of and commitment to immigrant and social justice
  • Strong cultural competency skills with diverse community groups
  • Experience with Salesforce, Form Assembly, and/or similar related software
  • Salary Range: $60,000 to $65,000
