Position Overview

The DREAM Fellowship Consultant shall work on the NYIC's DREAM Fellowship program between November 2019 and May 2020. The program will engage 20 DREAMers enrolled in the City University of New York (CUNY) in a cohort based training series between January and May 2020. Participants will be trained on a diverse selection of topics pertaining to immigration issues, leadership development, community development and advocacy/organizing. They will also work in small groups to develop and carry out their own community organizing/education projects in support of CUNY DREAMers and/or immigrants at large. Participants will receive scholarship money in support of their education at CUNY.

Key Responsibilities:

The consultant will:

  • Support the recruitment and selection of the program's participants.
  • Support the deployment of scholarship funds to participants.
  • Develop curriculum and secure guest speakers for the program's training sessions (5 Full-day sessions or 10 half-day sessions).
  • Coordinate and serve as the lead facilitator/host for the program's training sessions.
  • Support participants in working together in small groups to develop and carry out community change projects.
  • Plan and execute a graduation event for the program's participants.
  • Conduct an evaluation of the program.

Qualifications

  • Experience developing and facilitating workshops and trainings.
  • Experience running or supporting leadership development and/or community development programs.
  • Experience working with immigrant/DREAMer communities, and in particular, in the realm of higher education.
  • Familiarity with current immigration issues and advocacy campaigns.
NYIC/CUNY DREAM Fellowship Program alumni are strongly encouraged to apply.

Compensation: The consultant will be paid a flat fee of up to $10,000 for the completion of the deliverables.
