Position Description

The Communications Associate-Digital and Marketing is a key member of the New York Immigration Coalition’s Communications team. Duties and responsibilities broadly supports NYIC’s marketing and public relations efforts to increase awareness of the organization’s campaigns, activities and programmatic work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists with the development & implementation of Marketing, Advocacy, and Public Relations campaigns and rapid-response in consultation with Internal NYIC team, partner agencies, and/or external consultants across the department.
  • Marketing and Design: Coordinates and contributes to NYIC’s design work, as it relates to creating social media graphics, videos, promotional material for departmental events and projects, reports, websites etc. Keeps our photo library and video archive updated, works with external photographers, and other related tasks.
  • Website: Responsible for keeping NYIC’s website content updated (text and graphics) and reporting on analytics quarterly. Manages Google Adwords account, working with Sr. Director of Communications.
  • Powermail: Maintain calendar and draft and send a regular e-blast to our e-subscriber base on key NYIC issues and campaigns. Maintain quarterly analytics on powermails. Work with team to develop and execute list-building strategies via virtual events, pledge and sign-on campaigns, etc.
  • Social Media: Supports our Sr. Associate to create social media toolkits, may manage social media messaging for live events, and may support the development and execution of social media events and actions.
  • TikTok and Video: Manages our TikTok channel and supports our Sr. Associate in capturing personal testimonies and other video content. Develop creative videos for TikTok/Instagram Stories to further our campaign goals and build a larger movement of supporters for immigrant rights.
  • Events: Assists with coordination of press conferences, and other communications events and activities, etc. Works with Sr. Director of Communications to develop 4-6 virtual events annual to support our list-building goals for our Powermails and educate the public about key issues related to immigrant rights.
  • Coordinates photography or/and video for/of campaign-related events, actions, etc. for use in publications, media, etc. and ensure appropriate releases are signed and filed.
  • Administration: Handles departmental reconciliation of credit card expenses and submission of invoices, drafting of contracts, and other administrative duties, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

  • Strong interest in immigrant rights and digital campaigning with a minimum of one year working experience is strongly desired;
  • Organized and detail-oriented with strong writing skills, design aptitude and great familiarity with social media;
  • Experience and comfortability with Canva or other graphic design platforms is desired;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Collaborative team player and problem solver with a willingness to learn;
  • Ability to work effectively with community partners;
  • Ability to speak and write in Spanish or other languages.
  • Salary: $50,000-$51,250
