New York Immigration Coalition Applauds Judge’s Decision to Block Trump’s Sanctuary City Order

April 25th, 2017

A San Francisco judge blocked enforcement of President Trump’s executive order barring federal funds from so-called sanctuary cities Tuesday. In response, Steve Choi, Executive Director of the New York Immigration Coalition, released the following statement:

"The New York Immigration Coalition applauds U.S. District Court Judge William Orrick's preliminary injunction against the Department of Justice (DOJ) order to deny funding to sanctuary cities. When people are afraid to report crimes or engage with law enforcement, it places all of our communities at risk. This is another big victory for America's immigrants, a huge defeat for the Trump administration's senseless agenda, and a testament to our New York values."
